STARSKATE
The StarSkate program has a fresh new look on and off the ice…….
This program has been developed to focus on all 4 disciplines of figure skating with an option to take Skate Canada Assessments and compete if so desired… this includes freeskate, dance, skills, and artistic. This program also offers off-ice group conditioning, and year end Show to further enhance a skater’s development and experience.
We have three programs: JUMPSTART (Intro), STARSKATE 1 & UP AND ADULTSKATE
JUMPSTART – SKATERS MUST HAVE PASSED MINIMUM OF 1 STAGE 3 BADGE, AND HAVE PERMISSION OF THE CLUB COACH. HELMETS MANDATORY UNTIL COMPLETED STAGE 5
STARSKATE 1 & UP – FOR ALL SKATERS WANTING TO PURSUE THEIR FIGURE SKATING AND MUST HAVE COMPLETED THEIR CANSKATE BADGES AND UPON APPROVAL OF THE CLUB COACH
ADULTSKATE – FOR ANY ADULT WANTING TO LEARN TO SKATE OR CONTINUE THEIR SKATING JOURNEY
Equipment, Rules and Guidelines:

Skaters must make every effort to be on time for all sessions.

On Ice Attire: Athletic Clothing, Skating Dress w/tights, skating skirt or shorts w/tights and sweater, skating pants or tight ankle leggings. No Jogging Pants, Jeans or Hoodies.

Off Ice Equipment: Must have running shoes or dance shoes, mat and water bottle. On and Off Ice Appearance: All skaters’ hair must be out of their face. Pony tails, braids, buns, clips are all acceptable. NO BOBBY PINS IN SKATERS’ HAIR.

Must wear mitts or gloves. Mitts tend to keep the hands warmer for a longer period of time.

When you purchase new skates, they must be sharpened before skating for the first time. Seek advice of a Club Coach to assure you buy the appropriate level of skate for your child and that you get them sharpened at an proper figure skating specific shop.

For the safety, productivity and enjoyment of all, unsportsmanlike behavior or undesirable language will not be tolerated.

Skaters and parents are asked not to interrupt lessons unless it’s an emergency, please wait until after the skating session.

Skaters must never sit or lay on the ice unless seriously injured.

For Safety, skaters must notify a Coach before leaving the ice for any reason.

No food, gum, or sugar drinks permitted on the ice, water bottles only.

Parents are asked to observe sessions from the bleachers or lobby only. Player’s box is not an acceptable viewing area.

Skaters need to respect all coaching staff and fellow skaters.
There is an Off-Ice component to the program. Participants require dance shoes or runners, yoga mat and water bottle.
ALL STARSKATERS 11 AND OVER MUST BE PROGRAM ASSISTANTS
